Chapter: 592
Rowan played the part of an upset child so convincingly that it was as if he might burst into tears at any moment.

After witnessing Rowan's action, Bethany quickly said, "Mr. Bates, I'll be waiting for you outside. Let's not make the child unhappy."

Bethany was under the impression that Jonathan would refuse, but he simply nodded. “Okay.”

Bethany turned and took her leave after that. On her way, she couldn't stop thinking about Jonathan's response. Something felt off, but she couldn't quite place her finger on what it was.

Didn't he bring her to meet Rowan to find out what was between them?

But he didn't act like he was testing her or anything. As a matter of fact, he headed straight to the kitchen as soon as he came back.

What was he up to?

Bethany anxiously waited in the car for a while. Jonathan soon came out of the house, holding a paper bag.

He got into the car and handed it over to her.

"Here. It's for you."

"No, thank you. I'll eat after work."

Taking a glance at Bethany, Jonathan said, “You'll be working overtime tonight, so you'll be paid three-fold for today."

Immediately she heard that, she objected. “No! I am not working overtime tonight. I have things to do."

Jayson had finally got her in touch with B7. She couldn't afford to miss it.

However, Jonathan couldn't be rejected.

"You just took over the new project, Bethany. Of course, you have to work overtime. Where's your professionalism?"

"Can I just do it tomorrow, then? I promise I'll stay as late as you want me to. But please, not tonight. Jayson and I have somewhere to be."

"The answer is no." Jonathan gave her no room for a debate.

A frown immediately formed on Bethany's face. She thought he did all of that on purpose.

He had sworn to take revenge on her ever since he bought and took over Goldwald Company.

"But, Mr. Bates, you have to ask me first if you want me to work overtime. And it's coming on such short notice. No, Mr. Bates. I'll have to pass on this."

"Well, of course, you can choose to decline. Just remember I have a million ways to make him disappear from Odenset."

Jonathan spoke with a straight face, looking all gentlemanly. He didn't even look like he was threatening her.

Bethany knew exactly who he referred to. “Don't hurt you dare lay a finger on Jayson!"
