Chapter: 596
“Okay, your secret's safe with me."

"Ugh, when did I become your ally!" Rowan pouted, crossing his arms defiantly. "I helped you today, so tonight you have to teach me virtual programming! I want to learn how you built the firewall for Bates Group's backend!"

“Oh, okay... I'll teach you."

Jonathan nodded slightly, trying to appear composed in front of his son.

But the slightly trembling hand over his heart betrayed his excitement, disbelief, and the overwhelming impact he was struggling to process.

He couldn't remember the last time he had felt this shocked.

Jonathan even pulled over to the roadside, because his trembling hands struggled to control the steering wheel properly.

So, it turned out to be true.

His suspicion turned out to be true.

Bethany, who had been so determined to divorce, had twins shortly after.

And according to Rowan just now, she and Jayson were just friends.

She didn't love him in a romantic sense.

Bethany had lied to him.

But why? He had genuinely believed she wanted to be with Jayson and had only agreed to the divorce because he didn't want to get in the way of their supposed Love.

But now, it seemed the events back then were far more complicated than mere romantic entanglements.

After a long while, Jonathan called Brody. “Investigate Bethany's mother's death and find out what Maddie had to do with it."

Jonathan hadn't pursued the investigation into the death of Bethany's mother in the first place because he thought Bethany and Jayson were happy together; he firmly believed he would be an unwelcome intruder if he tried to interfere, which would only serve to further Bethany's resentment towards him.

In addition, he also wanted to let go of Bethany and move on-to start anew and leave the past behind.

That was why Jonathan hadn't investigated further.

But he was wrong-dead wrong!

He had painstakingly taken 99 steps towards Bethany, only to stop and abandon her at the last one.

Blissfully unaware to Jonathan's epiphany, Bethany was at work, busy organizing files. However, her mind was elsewhere; she was thinking about tonight's meeting with the elusive hacker, B7.

It had taken her a great deal of effort to finally getting in touch with B7, and she sure as hell wasn't going to let this opportunity slide.

Even if Jonathan deducted an entire month's worth of salary, she had to leave work on time today.
