Chapter: 604
"Okay. Send me the location!"
Bethany got into Jonathan's car, expecting they were headed to a restaurant for takeout, but instead, he drove to a nearby supermarket.
After parking, he exited and opened the door for her.
"Together."
“No, you go in and buy it, or tell me what we need and I'll get it.”
Bethany didn't want to be seen with him in public, away from work.
It could cause issues if they were recognized, especially by the media.
She wasn't famous, but Jonathan certainly was.
“We need two to carry everything. Don't worry, no one will take pictures here." Jonathan seemed to anticipate her concerns.
With no real alternative, Bethany stepped out of the car reluctantly.
Inside the supermarket, Jonathan took a shopping cart and led the way.
Bethany followed him, her emotions conflicting.
If things had been different, they might have been a happy couple.
Jonathan, in the role of a husband, had been considerate.
By day, he was the assertive CEO, making strategic decisions that shaped the future of Bates Group and influenced the market.
After hours, he was the man in the supermarket, sleeves rolled up, carefully selecting produce, his demeanor softening remarkably.
But all that was just a “what if." Reality was unchangeable.
"Hello, please clean this fish." Jonathan paused to give instructions to an employee at the seafood counter.
"Alright!"
Once done, he looked back at Bethany, who was still absorbing the scene and smiled slightly.
"This is Rowan's favorite dish. He can finish it by himself."
Bethany was left speechless again.
"If there's something you'd like, just say." Jonathan's focus remained on her, causing Bethany to feel a flush of warmth on her face.
She was eager to get away from him as quickly as she could.
