Chapter: 631
Suddenly, the world spun around her, and a wave of nausea overwhelmed her. She quickly opened her eyes, turned her head, and vomited a mix of bile and stomach contents.

"She's awake! Get the doctor!"

Jayson's voice rang out, filled with excitement, followed by the sound of many footsteps hurrying over.

Bethany's mind was empty, her body wracked with dry heaves after emptying her stomach, as if trying to rid herself of her very insides.

“Doctor, what's happening to her?"

"It's a normal reaction to the anesthesia; it'll pass soon."

Jayson watched as the doctor gave her medication and checked her vitals. He reached out to hold her hand, but she pulled away just as he touched her.

Her face was ghostly white, and her lips were cracked and bleeding.

“Where's Jonathan? Where is he?"

"You're still worried about him! Bethany, you almost died. Do you realize that? If it hadn't been for Jonathan, you wouldn't have been in this mess!" Jayson's frustration boiled over, fueled not just by the ordeal with Aimee but also by his deep concern for Bethany.

She had spent years trying to distance herself from Jonathan. Yet he kept pulling her back to Odonset, making her Maddie's target.

Jayson shuddered at the thought of what could have happened if Jonathan hadn't been monitoring Maddie and if he hadn't reached Bethany in time.

In Maddie's clutches, Bethany could have lost her life.

But now, Bethany didn't want to deal with the blame. She needed to know how Jonathan was.

She had seen that long, sharp knife sink into Jonathan's flesh.

"I need to see him. Please, Jayson, take me to him."

"You won't see him again! You won't see Jonathan again!" Jayson shook his head.

Bethany's body froze, her eyes glazed over as if she were sightless.

"You're lying. You're lying to me!"

“I'm not lying. You won't see Jonathan again! His family came and took him and Maddie away. I don't know his current condition!"

Bethany blinked, her throat dry and sore as if sliced by knives.

“So, he isn't dead. Right? He's not dead; just taken away?"

Jayson wanted to tell Bethany that Jonathan was gone, hoping it would help her move on.

She would mourn, but eventually, she would come to terms with it.
