Chapter: 632
However, gazing into her hopeful eyes, the depth of her worry apparent, Jayson found he couldn't bring himself to fabricate such a lie.
"He's not dead. His family took him to Central Hospital. That's all I know."
"But the knife... I saw Maddie stab him in the heart!" Bethany guessed he might have been alive when taken away, but what about now?
What were the results of the emergency procedures?
"Bethany! Can't you think about yourself for once?"
Before Jayson could finish, Bethany was already attempting to rise.
The abrupt movement reopened her wounds, staining her bandages with fresh blood. Yet, she seemed oblivious to the pain, frustrated by her inability to move freely.
“I need to get to Central Hospital. Jayson, please take me there!"
“I forbid you from going!" Jayson, for the first time, raised his voice.
His long-suppressed frustration now erupted.
Startled by his outburst, Bethany paused but continued searching for her shoes, her resolve unshaken.
As soon as she stood, she collapsed forward.
Her wounds split open again, and the IV needle tore her skin. Pain surged through her body, causing sweat to form instantly on her forehead.
"Bethany!" Jayson rushed to her side.
But she shoved him away, insisting, "I need to go to Central Hospital!"
“Your legs are broken! You can't walk! Please, let the doctors examine you first. Then, I promise, I'll take you." Jayson could not reason with her, so he attempted to calm her instead.
Yet, her mind was fixed on one thing alone.
She was determined to see Jonathan alive at Central Hospital.
“Please, no more scenes," Jayson pleaded, his eyes brimming with tears. “Bethany, Jonathan has his whole family supporting him. They won't let anything happen to him. You don't have that kind of support!"
Looking up at Jayson, Bethany's face was marred by bruises and cuts; her lips were cracked, bleeding.
Yet her resolve did not waver. "I need to see Jonathan... Take me."
"Bethany, you won't be able to see him! His family will prevent it."
"Take me. I'll get on my knees and beg you, Jayson, please!" In near hysteria, Bethany began banging her head against the floor, oblivious to the reopening wounds or the blood soaking her bandages.
She was desperate to reach Central Hospital, terrified she'd miss her chance to see Jonathan if delayed even a moment.
