Whenever someone called her out like that, she couldn't hide her feelings and wished she could just disappear.
“Okay, you're not," Jonathan said, his smile widening, his eyes locked on her.
Bethany, feeling his gaze, grew more flustered. She started wiping him down aimlessly. Then she noticed something out of the corner of her eye.
His crotch bulged.
Her hand felt something firm.
Like she had touched a live wire, Bethany pulled her hand back and stepped away. "I. I didn't mean to."
She quickly turned away and went to the bathroom to wash the towel.
Once she left the room, Jonathan took several deep breaths, trying to steady himself.
It was just a simple touch, yet his body had reacted so strongly.
He felt embarrassed too. He wasn't usually so easily affected.
But it had been so long, and her warm, gentle touch had been impossible to ignore.
In the bathroom, Bethany not only washed the towel but also splashed cold water on her face, hoping to cool her flushed cheeks.
Thinking about how she had just touched Jonathan's private area, she wanted to crawl into a hole. Would he overthink it? Would he think she was desperate and did it on purpose?
"Ah!" Bethany covered her face and groaned, wishing she could stay in the bathroom all day.
Luckily, Nikolas and Aimee knocked on the door soon after.
Bethany opened the door, feeling a wave of relief as she saw them.
But then Aimee pointed at her face, looking worried. “Bethany, why is your face so red? Do you have a fever again?"
“No, it's not like that." Bethany glanced nervously around, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment.
Nikolas, familiar with similar situations, sensed what had happened even without specifics. He subtly pulled Aimee aside, silently urging her to drop the topic.
What else could a man and woman be doing alone in a room?
"Why are you dragging me?" Aimee rolled her eyes and dashed over to Bethany. "Bethany, I gave Nikolas a piece of my mind today! I scolded him endlessly!"
Bethany was left speechless.
Nikolas scoffed and hobbled his way over to Jonathan's bedside.
