Chapter: 679
"Please, stay?" Jonathan implored, seeing her hesitation.

Forced to play his last card, he continued, "Before you came along, I managed on my own. But now, after rescuing you, I'm helpless here. Can't you assist me?"

Bethany's face showed her inner conflict. "But last time, I was drunk!"

The thought of being intimate while sober was daunting.

“Why not pretend you're drunk tonight?" he suggested.

“How can I pretend to be drunk?"

"Just turn off the lights. You won't see a thing."

Seeing his pleading look made her wish she had never broached the subject.

Now, she felt trapped.

"My leg is injured, too."

"We'll be careful. We have all night," he assured her. They would find a way to make it comfortable. Tonight, he was resolute in not letting her go.

Realizing Jonathan had shed his usual reserve for a more primal demeanor, she knew escape was futile. She nodded reluctantly.

"Then I'll... go turn off the lights."

"Great!"

"Jonathan, will this affect your stitches?"

"It won't. Just be gentle..."

That night, Aimee was restless in a hotel room, twisting and turning in her bed, sleep far beyond her reach.

Her mind was tangled with thoughts of how to break the situation to her cousin.

He was still awaiting his passport to travel to Wesden, and the thought of his arrival-only to witness Jonathan and Bethany together-was dreadfully awkward.

After wrestling with her thoughts for hours, Aimee mustered enough courage to call Jayson.

The phone rang repeatedly before he answered.

“Hey, I'm giving Rowan a bath and barely heard the phone. What's going on? How's Bethany doing?"

"She's okay," Aimee responded, biting her lip in discomfort. “Hey, how's everything with the passport?”

Jayson senses something was wrong and asked, “I've already submitted the application. You know this. Why bring it up again?"
