Chapter: 681
"Could you try to understand the entire situation before making assumptions?" His patience was wearing thin. "Why do you keep making assumptions and judging people so hastily?"

Aimee stiffened and retorted, "Oh, now you're giving me lectures? When you were constantly berating Bethany, did you fully understand the situation? You just saw her as someone trying to steal Maddie's man!"

"Now you can see that Jonathan has always loved Bethany, not Maddie!"

Aimee said.

Struck dumb by her declaration, Nikolas just stared at her, arms folded across his chest. After a moment, he spoke, his voice slow.

“Are you still going out to get the beer?"

"Yes!"

Aimee was the kind of person who could handle setbacks gracefully, but she never let grievances slide.

Whether she was upset or overjoyed, she made her feelings known.

Since Nikolas had recently recovered from a serious injury and was still a bit stiff, Aimee took the wheel this time.

Driving was rare for her, especially a luxury car, and it took her a while to even get it started.

At the supermarket, Aimee filled a cart with over ten different bottles of beer. Unsure which to choose, she decided to try them all.

Nikolas eyed the pile of beer bottles and remarked, “You're not going to be able to stand up tomorrow if you drink all that."

“It doesn't matter. I don't have to worry about Bethany anymore. Jonathan will look after her." Aimee grabbed a red beer can and scanned it, but the words were unfamiliar. She turned to Nikolas, asking, "Hey, do you want some?"

The corner of Nikolas' mouth twitched slightly.

"I'm still not fully healed!" He glanced at Aimee, wondering if she cared about anyone's wellbeing besides Bethany's.

Aimee paused, then offered a sheepish smile. "Sorry, I didn't realize that! I thought you were impervious to pain, considering it's a wound from the woman you love most. You're supposed to take it with a smile, right?"

“Can we not talk about this, please?" Nikolas responded, his patience wearing thin.

With a nonchalant shrug, Aimee patted him on the shoulder. "Just a friendly reminder to tread carefully in the future. Don't rush to judgments without knowing the full story."

"Fine," Nikolas muttered, resigning himself to silence.

He knew better than to challenge Aimee. It was wiser to keep his distance.

Later, after their shopping trip, Aimee drove them back to the hotel.

She gazed up at the large, prominent "B" above the hotel entrance and pointed. "Does this 'B' stand for Bates?"

"Aren't you aware this is owned by the Bates family?" Nikolas replied, laden with bags.
