Chapter: 682
Aimee fell silent.
“It's probably nothing to them. Maybe the Bates family doesn't even notice these things."
As Aimee stared at the building, Nikolas mistook her expression for envy. Little did he know, she was pondering something far more serious.
Bethany's desire to take down the Bates family was akin to extracting a tooth from a tiger's mouth.
How daunting that would be!
The Bates family was rich and powerful. Without Jonathan's protection, it was Likely Bethany would have vanished before ever finding justice.
Bethany was exhausted like never before.
She had assumed that Jonathan, being injured, would have toned down his antics.
She was mistaken.
If anything, Jonathan had become even more demanding than before.
Bethany was so drained that she fell asleep instantly, not even pausing to shower.
The following morning, a knock at the door shattered her slumber.
"Who is it?"
“It's me, Samira. I apologize for the intrusion. I've come to change Jonathan's dressing."
Bethany started to rise, but Jonathan's gentle grip on her wrist halted her. "Take your time. Be careful."
"This is all your fault!" Bethany snapped at him. After pulling herself out of bed, she flung open the window to let the morning air freshen the room.
She then hurried to the door, where Samira awaited with a tray.
Samira's eyes widened at the sight of Bethany's disheveled appearance and palpable weariness. "Did something happen last night?" she asked, a note of concern in her voice.
Bethany forced a smile and muttered, "No, nothing."
Samira glanced at her with a knowing smile. “Taking care of a patient can really wear you out, huh?"
"Yeah..." Bethany agreed, feeling genuinely drained.
Samira seemed to understand and gave her an encouraging pat on the shoulder. “Why don't you take a longer break? I'll check back in later."
"No. Please go ahead and change his dressing. That's more important!"
Bethany preferred not to be left alone with Jonathan.
