Chapter: 707
His gaze bore into hers, filled with determination. "I will take you there. That's a promise."
Bethany met Jonathan's gaze with a guilty grin. "I trust you."
"I'm glad you trust me."
"Okay."
Turning away, Bethany faced the computer screen, her vision blurring.
On the brink of tears, she stood abruptly and turned her back to Jonathan. "I just remembered, I haven't washed my face since waking up. I need to freshen up!"
Bethany hurried into the bathroom just as another figure entered the room.
Samira was concerned about Jonathan's injury and, more crucially, about his overall well-being, compelling her to check on him.
Upon entering and noticing only Jonathan resting on the bed, she stopped short and asked with a hint of surprise, "Where's Bethany?"
"She's washing her face."
"Alright." Samira stepped in, donned her medical gloves, and bent over to examine Jonathan's wounds with meticulous care.
Her professionalism never wavered, whether treating the Bates family or any other patient. She adhered strictly to her medical ethics.
Living a life free from the constraints of traditional roles, Samira, who had spent her life abroad and knew her elder brother would inherit the family fortune, never concerned herself with the notion of marriage or romance.
She had always thought remaining single was preferable. Yet, witnessing the connection between Jonathan and Bethany began to alter her perspective on love.
Perhaps... if a man like Jonathan were to show interest, she might just reciprocate.
After rinsing her face, Bethany returned to find an unexpected scene unfolding.
Jonathan lay injured while Samira gently tended to his wounds, offering occasional reminders.
This sight sparked a thought in Bethany's mind. If Jonathan's heart belonged to Samira, wouldn't the Bates family have celebrated their union with a grand wedding by now?
Perhaps then, Francine's favoritism towards Maddie wouldn't be so blatant.
“Bethany.” Lost in her thoughts, Bethany heard Samira calling her.
"Yes?" she responded, snapping back to reality. “What's wrong?"
Samira indicated Bethany's pocket and mentioned, “Your phone has been ringing. Didn't you notice?"
Bethany paused, her face flushing with embarrassment, before she excused herself and stepped outside with her phone.
Checking the screen, she saw Andrew's name.
