Chapter: 71
“Who do you think you are talking to? Bethany, I am your father! Don't act so high and mighty. You're no better than your mother!"

Andrew's frustration grew as he raised his voice.

Initially, Bethany just wanted to return quickly, but his comments about her mother were too much to ignore. “We're terrible? It's laughable coming from someone who cheated and left his wife and daughter."

“How dare you!"

"Tell your mistress to stop making trouble! My mother and I didn't fight back not because we were weak, but to keep the trash out of our lives. If you push me, I won't hesitate to go to the press and reveal all your deeds. The Holt family is well-known in Brokdon. Consider the repercussions."

With that, Bethany spun around and headed back to the restaurant.

Andrew seethed and shouted after her, "How dare you threaten me? Fine! Then don't blame me for what happens next. Just get ready to bury your mother!"

Andrew's threat didn't seem to affect Bethany.

His mistress had long harbored dreams of marrying him and continuously pressured him for a divorce from Marie. Despite the chaos this caused, Marie stood firm and refused to sign the divorce papers, intent on making life difficult for his mistress.

Bethany found herself empathizing with Marie. Her deep-seated disdain for Andrew and his mistress was a reason she fought to persevere.

Upon Bethany's return to the restaurant, Brody noticed her distressed appearance but didn't inquire about it. After they finished their rice noodles, they received a summons back to SNS.

It appeared Jonathan and his business partners had just concluded their meal. He was now relaxed on the sofa in the living room, his suit jacket hanging from one arm and his legs elegantly crossed.

He caught sight of Bethany and gestured for her to come over.

Bethany felt compelled to approach. She hastened to Jonathan and smiled. "Mr. Bates."

“Let me introduce you. This is Dwayne Todd, CEO of SNS."

“I am pleased to meet you, Mr. Todd." Bethany was puzzled by the sudden introduction but recognized the importance of maintaining decorum to uphold Bates Group's reputation.

Dwayne Todd, realizing Jonathan's deliberate introduction, extended his hand with a warm smile and said, "Nice to meet you."

"I've specifically chosen Bethany Holt to oversee our collaboration. If you encounter any issues in the future, please feel free to contact her."

Jonathan's words stunned Bethany like a sudden ripple in a still pond.

Bethany was taken aback.

Since when had she been appointed as the project director? She worried about her lack of experience.

“Miss Holt, you appear so youthful. I hadn't expected you to be such an important helper for Mr. Bates. My apologies for my earlier assumptions," Dwayne said, his expression shifting to respect upon recognizing her significant role.

Indeed, securing Jonathan's approval was no small feat, prompting him to treat his esteemed colleagues with great care.

"Mr. Todd, you flatter me."
