Chapter: 713
Jonathan shrugged casually. “You didn't ask me to mentor you then. You made a request, so I included an incentive."

"In that case, I don't want you to mentor me."

She refused to contemplate dying in bed.

Seeing her firm refusal, Jonathan couldn't help but smile. “By the way, I want to bring Rowan and Nola here."

Although he needed to rest in bed, having the children around would hasten his recovery and ease Bethany's worries about them.

After nearly draining Bethany's energy over the past few days, Jonathan had to acknowledge her limits. Though he was not entirely satisfied, his urgency had eased enough for him to consider the children.

He stilled owed Nola one dollar.

“Is this your father's idea?" Bethany asked instinctively.

She thought Godfrey was becoming impatient.

"They're our children, not his concern."

"How is that possible? He's their grandfather." She stated an immutable fact. Just as Godfrey and Francine would always be Jonathan's parents.

"But Rowan and Nola are our children. Where they go and who they stay with is our decision," Jonathan said gently, attempting to ease her concerns.

“Yes, Jonathan, I've always known you'd be a wonderful father."

Bethany understood him well, especially after seeing him interact with Rowan. The joy and harmony they shared were something even she, as their mother, couldn't match.

She felt guilty for the Limited time she'd spent with her children.

The older Rowan grew, the more her guilt weighed on her.

"Of course I will be! And they couldn't have asked for a better mother than you."

Bethany looked up suddenly, meeting Jonathan's gaze, and after a moment's hesitation, she asked in a voice choked with emotion, "Can you promise me something?"

Without hesitation, he nodded. "I promise."

"No matter what happens in the future, you must always protect Rowan and Nola and love them as much as you can! Even if we're no Longer together and you have more children with someone else, promise me you won't treat Rowan and Nola any differently, okay?"

Jonathan's handsome face darkened instantly. He sensed the weight of her words.

"As long as you don't push me away, we won't be apart."

"I'm saying if! If! Is it that hard to understand?"

Bethany tried to lighten the mood with a smile, but Jonathan remained serious.
