Chapter: 715
When she noticed the teeth marks, she didn't see the tattoo and assumed Jonathan might have moved past their breakup, but then they reunited.
"I did intend to start fresh because waiting for you was becoming unbearable." Jonathan revealed the tattoo on his chest for her to see clearly. “I tried to have the tattoo removed, but I overestimated my ability to cope without it. I couldn't adjust to the absence of this tattoo on my body, so I got it tattooed again."
Jonathan had carried that tattoo for over a decade. When he initially removed it, he couldn't even bear to look in the mirror while drying his hair.
He simply wasn't accustomed to not having it and felt he might lose his mind.
Bethany stared intently at the tattoo, noticing the clear signs of it being inked over.
She reached out hesitantly to touch his slightly rough skin, unable to fathom his feelings about re-tattooing it after having it removed.
"Did it hurt more to get the tattoo again after you had it removed?"
“It didn't hurt at all. Actually, I felt joy getting it done, whether it was the first or second time."
He felt as if she had returned, back to his body. How could he not feel joy?
"Jonathan, were you always so reckless in junior high? Weren't you worried about your parents catching you?"
Back then, getting a tattoo was a big no for students.
If the school had discovered it, he would have faced severe consequences.
“No one knew about it, and why would I show it off when you hadn't agreed to be my girlfriend?"
Bethany paused for a moment, her thoughts drifting back to a distant memory. “When you played basketball..."
Jonathan interrupted, "Well, I used a Band-Aid to cover my tattoo."
"You were so bold! You were just a teenager in middle school. The tattoo would stay on your body for a lifetime. How could you be sure that we would meet again when we grew up?"
Despite everything, the fact remained that he was impulsive and childish back then.
"I didn't think too much. You gave me back the letter I wrote to you. I thought it was a refusal," Jonathan admitted.
"You thought I rejected you, yet you kept it?" Bethany asked incredulously.
“Bethany, don't doubt my loyalty," Jonathan responded firmly. “I've never had feelings for anyone else, so why would I remove the tattoo?"
Bethany fell silent, processing his words.
“Do you know how I felt when I read the message you sent me that day?"
“What message?" Bethany replied, visibly taken aback.
“You asked me to recommend porn to you," he reminded her.
