Chapter: 749
“Come over here."
Bethany walked slowly towards the bed.
“Can you manage to stand?"
"It's a bit painful, but Dr. Shaw recommended that I try walking a bit." As usual, Bethany bent down to examine Jonathan's wound for any signs of bleeding when she approached him.
His constant movement aggravated the injury, causing it to reopen repeatedly and resist healing.
"After I'm discharged from the hospital, let's go home. You can return to East Shade Bay with the kids, okay?" Jonathan suggested.
He planned to transform the two unused guest rooms into bedrooms for their children, Rowan and Nola.
Additionally, there was a large, empty area in front of his study, currently filled with antiques. He intended to clear it out and set up an area of toys.
This arrangement would allow the kids to retreat to their rooms for rest or come out to play with the toys whenever they wished.
The house was spacious, and initially, Jonathan had thought he would live there alone without much need for planning. Now, with his family returning, he felt the need to redesign it thoughtfully.
However, Bethany was hesitant to think about these plans. For her, it was enough to hope that Jonathan could recover within a month and be released from the hospital.
Maybe the U disk could be restored before they went back home.
"You don't like East Shade Bay?" Jonathan inquired, noticing Bethany's silence.
Bethany shook her head and replied, “It's not like that. I love it. It's very peaceful there.”
“Then let's move back, okay?" Jonathan pressed, seeking confirmation.
He compelled her to meet his gaze and reiterated, “Move back to our home."
"Jonathan, I just remembered I haven't got my dressing changed today..."
With this pretext, Bethany was poised to depart.
Jonathan seized her wrist, pressing, "Why won't you answer my question?"
Bethany remained silent.
"Don't you see a future with me?"
He couldn't fathom any other reason.
Bethany offered a strained smile. “Don't overthink it. It's difficult to predict the future. I prefer not to dwell on it in advance. Aren't we enjoying our time together now? Why obsess over what's to come?"
"Then what am I to you?" Jonathan asked another question, though its essence remained unchanged. “Am I just an old classmate, your ex-husband, or your boss?"
