Chapter: 750
"You're the father of Nola and Rowan, of course! Why would you even ask that?"
Bethany instinctively dodged the question, the weight of it unbearable.
“Be honest with me. What did my father threaten you with?" He saw no other explanation for her reluctance. “Did he threaten to harm the children? Is that why you agreed to leave me?"
Jonathan turned her face to meet his gaze.
"Trust me. I can keep Nola and Rowan safe. Don't let such threats scare you!"
"I know you'll take good care of the children. I have no fears regarding that," Bethany replied.
"Then why...?" Jonathan pressed.
Bethany inhaled sharply, her voice trembling slightly as she confessed, “I've undergone so many changes, and I'm not the same person I once was. Planning ahead just doesn't suit me anymore. That's all there is to it."
"Is that really it?" Jonathan's gaze pierced hers, searching for any sign of evasion or distress.
"Yes, that's really it."
"Listen to me, you don't have to plan anything. I've got it covered," he assured her, squeezing her hand gently. "Just trust me, can you do that?"
Bethany nodded slowly. “Okay, I will."
She trusted Jonathan to look after the children well, unlike Andrew.
She was convinced that even her battles with the Bates family and the potential fallout it could cause to Bates Group wouldn't affect their children.
Meanwhile, on the plane, Aimee was sound asleep, succumbing to her exhaustion.
Nikolas sat opposite her, sleepless himself, yet unable to drift off.
He hadn't obtained her contact information yet.
He had boarded the plane, determined to confront her. However, seeing her tear-streaked, weary face halted him.
He was keenly aware of how exhausted she was from last night.
As the plane began its descent towards Odonset, the captain's announcements stirred Aimee awake.
She yawned and sat up, squinting against a shadow that dimmed the Light.
Frowning, she looked up to find Nikolas’ somber face looming over her.
"You look Like a ghost!"
After a restful night, Aimee found herself with enough energy to confront Nikolas.
