Chapter: 751
“Follow me once we disembark from the plane," Nikolas commanded, his voice brooking no argument.
But Aimee was not one to be easily commanded. “Why do you think you can boss me around?"
"Because I slept with you!"
"Many have been with me. You are..." Aimee's retort was cut short as she noticed a sudden, ominous shift in Nikolas' demeanor. He looked intensely serious. ‘m not happy with how our last conversation went. We need to revisit it!"
“Nikolas, we're no longer overseas. Can you drop what happened in Wesden? You're pestering me so much; it's almost as if you have feelings for me!"
Aimee's remark was offhand, yet it struck Nikolas profoundly, leaving him visibly shaken.
Still, his response came quicker than his thoughts. "Don't kid yourself. Who would fall for you?"
The words were out before he could stop them, and he immediately regretted them.
Yet, Aimee didn't react with anger. Instead, she offered a smile.
“Precisely! Since you're not interested, let's not meet anymore. I won't breathe a word of last night to anyone, let alone brag about being with you. Are we clear?"
“Hold on. Maybe I didn't sleep well enough. You head back to my place first. We'll talk later!"
"No, I won't go with you!" Aimee's refusal was firm. "We're already back home. Surely it's not hard for you to find another woman? Nikolas, remember, we aren't in Wesden anymore. This is Odonset! Your territory! Go find someone who's meant for you!"
As the plane neared the Odonset Airport, its vague outline slowly became visible through the window, signaling to Nikolas that little time remained.
The realization hit him hard: if he parted ways with Aimee now, without exchanging contact details, their fleeting connection might dissolve forever. The future of their encounters would then hinge solely on chance.
Receiving updates on Aimee through Jonathan was out of the question.
Jonathan prioritized Bethany over him. Despite being the CEO of Bates Group, Jonathan seemed perpetually wary of upsetting Bethany.
And turning to Bethany was even less feasible, as she had just shown clear disapproval of the idea.
"You don't need to return with me. How about we grab something to eat first after we land? I haven't eaten anything since this morning. I'm really hungry," Nikolas suggested, reaching out his hand.
However, Aimee deftly sidestepped his gesture. “No, someone's coming to pick me up."
"Is it a man or a woman?" Nikolas asked, his tone laced with sudden wariness.
Aimee's brow furrowed, annoyed by his probing. “What does it matter to you?"
Ignoring her displeasure, Nikolas grasped her wrist to prevent her from continuing her packing. “Tell me, is it a man or a woman?"
“It's a man. Is that a problem?"
A man?
