Chapter: 754
But Aimee had changed the rules.
In a burst of frustration, Nikolas kicked a nearby pillar, his gaze fixed on her retreating figure. He clenched his fists, hesitated briefly, then resolved to run after her.
He was resolute, whether to apologize or for another reason. He needed her contact information. Otherwise, he feared he might never reach her again.
ALL the way to the luggage carousel, tears streamed down Aimee's cheeks.
After a brief moment, she gathered herself, pulling a hat and mask from her bag to cover her face.
Nikolas' words earlier had mortified her, and the last thing she wanted was to become the target of pointing fingers and whispers.
Reeling from Nikolas' harsh scolding, Aimee found herself reflecting on her actions.
Indeed, she had been the one to initiate the one-night stand, leaving her no one else to blame.
Her only resolution now was to ensure she never saw him again.
International luggage often took its time, and with the crowd present, the wait was even longer.
During this, Jayson's call came through again. "Haven't you come out yet?"
"No, but it should be any minute now."
Jayson, ever observant, detected the distress in her voice and pressed, “Aimee, are you crying?"
His question almost broke her composure again, but she masked her turmoil with a light-hearted excuse to hide her reddened eyes. “Yeah! I'm crying because I'm so excited to see you soon.”
Nikolas finally caught sight of Aimee in the dense crowd. She was dabbing at her eyes and smirking as she spoke into her phone, claiming her tears were from missing the person on the other end of the line.
At that moment, a surge of anger welled up within him once again.
Yet, as he strode forcefully towards her, he halted abruptly.
How could he be so shameless?
She had rejected him so clearly. Did he still hope to approach her, only to be slap again?
Besides, it was apparent she had a boyfriend, someone she planned to accompany to visit her parents the very next day. What was he thinking?
Nikolas' lips twitched slightly, and he bit the inside of his cheek in frustration.
What a fool! Damn it!
Meanwhile, at the airport, as soon as Jayson spotted Aimee, he began waving excitedly.
Nola and Rowan, flanking him, tugged at his trousers. "Uncle Jayson, lift us up! We want to see too!"
