Chapter: 755
With no other option, he hoisted one child onto each hip.
As Aimee approached briskly with her suitcase, she leaned down to plant kisses on Nola's and Rowan's cheeks.
"I've missed you two so much! My goodness!"
"Aunt Aimee!" Nola, overjoyed, leaned in and wanted a hug.
Rowan clearly was not pleased. He wiped off the trace of Aimee's kiss from his cheek, grimacing as he said, "I'm a boy, and you're a girl! You shouldn't just kiss me like that."
“I don't care, I'm going to kiss you anyway," Aimee retorted playfully.
Jayson placed Rowan on top of Aimee's suitcase and looked at her with concern. "You must be exhausted after staying on the plane for so long. Why don't you stretch a bit?"
“I'm actually fine! I managed to get some decent sleep," Aimee replied, narrowing her eyes into a smile. However, she kept quiet about Nikolas.
"That's great to hear. What are you in the mood to eat? It's on me."
Jayson was always considerate, gently brushing Aimee's hair. As they approached his car, Aimee's indecisiveness about food kept him amused.
Just as they neared his vehicle, Jayson suddenly inquired, “Did you call Bethany to let her know you landed?"
"Oh no, I forgot! I'll call her now," Aimee exclaimed, reaching for her phone.
But Jayson quickly intervened. “Let me make the call. You go ahead and get in the car."
Aimee blinked, confused.
"I don't have any other reason to call her," he confessed.
Aimee parted her lips, about to reveal that Bethany had wanted her to persuade him, but she hesitated and decided against it. “Then you make the call! I'll stay in the car to keep the kids company."
"Alright."
Jayson nodded and walked off with his phone.
The day in Odonset was breezy. His hair whipped around as gusts tugged at the edges of his clothing.
He pulled up Bethany's number, paused for a moment, then pressed call.
Bethany picked up quickly. "Jayson!"
“Hi, Bethany." A smile spread across his face. “Just letting you know, I've got Aimee with me. She's landed. We're heading out to dinner with the kids now."
“Okay! Jayson, thanks for looking after the kids, and really, thank you..."
"You're always thanking me. I'm tired of it." Jayson grinned. “When you're back, say thanks in person and buy me dinner."
