Chapter: 799
If he couldn't see that, he'd be an idiot.

Nikolas, a man known throughout Odonset, had risked his reputation only to be made a mockery. It was absurd.

He slammed on the accelerator, and the car sped off like a shot.

As he made a turn in the neighborhood, he took one last look in the rearview mirror.

And there was Aimee.

She was carrying two large shopping bags, dressed in new clothes, and laughing joyfully alongside someone who appeared to be her mother.

Ignoring his instincts, Nikolas hit the brakes.

"Mom, I think this pink one looks great on me. What do you think?"

“It's stunning! You look wonderful in anything," Aimee's mother replied, her face beaming with affection.

She only had one daughter, the light of her life since her birth.

How could she not adore her?

“Alright, I'll wear this tonight then!" Aimee knew her looks well-she looked good in pink.

Just as Aimee was about to head upstairs with her mother, she heard her name being called from behind.

Her body tensed up.

She truly didn't want to look back.

"It sounds like someone is calling you," her mother said.

"Yes, Mom, go on ahead. My friend needs me for something."

Once her mother had gone upstairs, Aimee reluctantly faced the other way.

"Nikolas, what do you want?"

Nikolas was holding a cigarette case, but he made no move to Light one. Instead, he fiddled with the lighter, his gaze fixed on Aimee the whole time.

He neither took a step closer nor spoke, the silence stretching uncomfortably between them.

Aimee was caught off guard by his presence. The last thing she wanted was for her parents to witness this awkward confrontation.

The thought of them discovering the messy details of her life was mortifying. There was no way they could find out about how their precious daughter was going around asking a random man if he wanted to have sex with her.

With a click, the lighter flared briefly before snapping shut.
