Chapter: 801
"So, can you let me go and chase other women? Look at me-I'm just an ordinary woman with an ordinary figure. My family's situation is nowhere near yours. You said you wanted me to be your girlfriend. Can I really believe that? I'm not a child anymore. For me, a relationship means looking towards marriage. We have different goals. Even if I agreed to be with you, it would only be for a few more nights together."

Nikolas stared at her, his jaw clenched. “And you think this man can marry you?"

“Maybe. I haven't met him yet, but our parents introduced us. He knows the expectations."

"How do you know he won't just break up with you after having his fun?"

"I don't know," Aimee admitted, meeting his gaze. “But at least we're from the same social rank. That gives us a better chance at something real."

To hell with social rank!

Did a noble lineage truly mean nothing?

"I can offer you everything he can," Nikolas said, his voice a blend of anger and weariness. "Please, skip the blind date."

“He's ready to marry me. Can you claim the same?" Aimee interrupted sharply. "Don't even say you can! I wouldn't believe it! How well do we really know each other, Nikolas? Just from that one night together and all the other times we're practically at each other's throats! And now, out of the blue, you want to be my boyfriend, or even my husband? Isn't that absurd? Do you even believe that yourself?"

Even Nikolas had to admit, it seemed far-fetched.

What was he really clinging to? He could choose any woman he desired.

"You doubt I could marry you?" Nikolas made a snap decision. “Okay, let's head to the court tomorrow and make it official. We can figure everything else out one step at a time. Does that sound good?"

He glanced up, catching the look of astonishment on Aimee's face.

“Do you realize what you're suggesting?" she asked.

“I do. Trust me, I haven't lost my mind," Nikolas replied, running a hand through his hair, his expression tense. “Just bring your documents tomorrow. I'll pick you up. Marrying me has got to be a safer bet than going out with some guy from a blind date, right?"

“Wait, hold on." Aimee raised her hands, her mind whirling. The conversation had veered wildly off course.

This wasn't about speeding into a marriage registration.

“Nikolas, marrying you was never in my plans!" she exclaimed. “I'm not old-fashioned, and I'm not obsessed with virtue, but you've been with too many women and you thrive on nightlife. I can't see you settling down into family life. Maybe you could manage for a short while-a month, maybe two-but in the long run? I'm skeptical." Aimee couldn't imagine chaining her life to a man surrounded by so many red flags.

If they married and had children, and he reverted to his partying habits, what would become of her and their family?

Navigating a divorce and engaging in a custody dispute with his influential family would indeed be a harrowing ordeal. The Bennett family, wielding significant power, could effortlessly overwhelm a modest family like hers. She'd find herself voiceless in such a conflict.

"I'll admit, I used to be quite the player. But I promised to change if you'd agree to be my girlfriend. Can't you give me that chance?"

Nikolas couldn't alter his history, but he was eager to evolve.

"No, I can't take that risk," Aimee replied resolutely. “It's clear we're not compatible. You should either keep living your life without commitment or find someone from a background similar to yours. I'm not in a position to join your games.”

She attempted to exit the car. However, Nikolas quickly reached out and pulled her back into his embrace.
