Chapter: 863
Bethany recognized that his mysophobia hadn't been cured.
"Okay." She embraced Jonathan from behind. "It's a shame it doesn't snow in Harvein right now."
"It will eventually." Jonathan turned and enveloped her in his arms.
"We could stay in Harvein for a while."
“What about your work?"
"Nikolas can handle it."
Bethany smiled and shook her head. "Forget that. Your health comes first. You need to return to Wesden soon."
“Bethany, I don't want you to have any regrets.”
Shaking her head, Bethany replied, "I don't have any regrets anymore."
Having someone hold her, cherish her like a precious treasure, and treat her with such gentleness was more than she could have asked for in this life. Her only sorrow was the possibility that they might not grow old together.
Nikolas had just left a meeting and was exiting the conference room when his phone rang-it was his mother.
As he answered, he instructed his secretary, "Please take the statistical files from the meeting to the president's office and hand them to Brody. Also, let him know I'll be busy this afternoon and won't be back in the office."
"Yes, Mr. Bennett."
Afterward, he said to his mother, “What's up, Mom?"
"Are you done with your meeting?"
"Yes, I'm on my way to the parking garage now. Where are you? I'll come to you."
He then grabbed his car keys and headed for the elevator.
Gilda hesitated, then said in a lowered voice, "What's going on between you and Aimee? She told me that you two aren't actually in a relationship."
"Did she say that?" Nikolas asked, his eyebrows lifting as he entered his car.
“Yes. Your father and I are quite perplexed. What happened?"
“Well, I might have upset her. She's just upset right now. You heard her earlier; she admitted to being my girlfriend," Nikolas said, managing a smile. "I'll smooth things over with her later."
Gilda was still doubtful. "Really?"
“Absolutely! I'm heading back to her now. You didn't let her leave, did you?"
"I was just worried that, with the argument and all, it wouldn't be right to let her leave in that state."
