Chapter: 899
Nikolas turned instinctively at the sound of the voice.
He saw a girl who looked vaguely familiar, but he couldn't quite remember her name.
He raised his eyebrows, holding two cups of drinks. “And you are...?"
“It's me, Amy. Don't you remember? We met that night at Luxe Bar. You took me to a hotel nearby..."
For a brief moment, Nikolas felt a shiver run down his spine.
He turned awkwardly and saw Aimee watching him with a conflicted expression.
Amy was oblivious to Aimee's presence. She lowered her head and pulled out her phone. She looked up at Nikolas with a smile and said, "I always want to return the money you gave me last time. I happened to run into you today. Can you give me your account details?"
"Well, I don't think it's necessary..."
Nikolas' expression froze.
But Amy was adamant as she added, "I have to give the money back to you. I went to Luxe Bar several times looking for you, but you weren't there. I need to return the money. I don't want anyone thinking I left with you that day for money. If I keep it, what's the difference between me and those who are paid for their company?"
Just as Nikolas was about to respond, Aimee approached, placing her hand on his shoulder and giving Amy a reassuring smile. "Are you certain it was Nikolas who gave you the money? Make sure you're not confusing him with someone else."
"It's definitely him!" Amy was certain, showing the transfer record.
"Look!"
Nikolas instinctively wanted to intervene, but Aimee had already taken the phone.
The portrait and nickname were unmistakable.
But the timing was critical...
It was a transfer made after their return from Wesden.
Nikolas felt a chill deeper than the cold drinks in his hands.
He quickly tried to clarify to Aimee, "I did meet her that day, but nothing inappropriate happened. If you're doubtful, you can ask her!"
Witnessing Nikolas’ panicked state, Amy realized something and started to speak. "Mr. Bennett and I..."
"You don't need to explain; I believe you. Take the money. You're entitled to it." Then turning to Nikolas, Aimee said with a smile, "I don't feel like shopping anymore. Let's go."
Nikolas, unable to defy her, simply nodded.
They ended up buying only two cold drinks before heading back to the underground parking lot.
As soon as Aimee settled into the car, Nikolas rushed to explain, "I was upset after you turned me down, so I went to the bar. I thought I could distract myself with drinks and friends, maybe even get over you. But I couldn't. You were all I thought about, so I didn't touch her. I just gave her some money and asked her to leave.”
