Chapter: 909
His health was deteriorating.
During those years, Nikolas rarely saw a smile on Jonathan's face, so he often stayed late at work with Jonathan, trying not to upset him further.
“Jonathan really loves Bethany." Aimee acknowledged.
“What about Bethany? Does she love Jonathan?" Nikolas took a deep breath. “Honestly, I feel like she hasn't done nearly as much for him as he has for her!"
“Do you know Bethany nearly died giving birth to Rowan and Nola? I was terrified. When I signed the critical condition notice, I really thought we might lose her."
Nikolas fell silent.
Aimee sighed. “You were raised in a stable family, so you might not understand Bethany's actions. But in my view, Bethany has truly done everything she can to love Jonathan."
Aimee had known Bethany for a long time. Before meeting Jonathan, Bethany showed no interest in men.
Sometimes, she could have lived better if she had said nice things to please others, yet she had refused. She deeply disliked men.
Noticing Nikolas looked puzzled, Aimee tried a different approach.
“Imagine you have a million dollars and give me eight hundred thousand. People would think you love me a lot. I can't return eight hundred thousand because I only have one hundred thousand, but I'm ready to give you all of it. People might see a big difference between eight hundred thousand and one hundred thousand. You might question the depth of love, but you wouldn't know that's all the money I have."
Nikolas was taken aback.
"Bethany was always warned to steer clear of men since she was young. Her mom feared she would endure the same hardships she did. But even when Bethany found out she was pregnant, she chose to keep the babies, defying her mother. Her love should never be questioned."
It seemed Nikolas finally grasped her point. He could only sigh. “But life hasn't been easy for Jonathan either. I truly admire him for loving Bethany for over a decade. Not many men can do that."
"Yes, that's true."
“But now, they are happy and have children. Nothing can keep them apart. They could remarry and have a wedding ceremony. That would be a perfect conclusion. Then it's our turn to get married."
Aimee bit her lip.
A wedding?
She wasn't so sure.
Bethany expected Jonathan would call her after his meeting.
That used to be his way!
However, several hours had gone by. Nola and Rowan had woken up from their naps, but he still hadn't called her.
How long could a meeting possibly last?
Bethany thought about calling him but didn't want to interrupt his work.
