Chapter: 910
Jonathan had been injured saving her, so Bates Group likely faced a backlog of work. As the CEO, his responsibilities were immense, and being busy was part of the job.

She believed Jonathan would call before nightfall, no matter what.

She just had to be patient.

"Mommy, why isn't Daddy home today?" Nola felt uneasy. She came downstairs and took her mother's hand.

“Dad's caught up with work. He used to spend all his time with us. But as we're heading back to Wesden, he needs to focus on his job!"

Nola frowned. “Can he get me some candy after he's done working?"

“Aren't you worried about your teeth anymore?"

“But I really want some!"

Bethany felt a bit helpless, and fetched a piece of candy from the drawer.

Soon after, Rowan came downstairs. He placed his laptop on the table and turned it towards his mother.

"Something is wrong with Dad today."

"What do you mean?"

"He hasn't been online at all." Rowan pointed at the screen. “Didn't you mention he was busy at the company? He hasn't even logged into Bates Group's backend."

Bethany took a closer look.

Indeed, it was true.

The records showed Jonathan had logged in earlier in the morning but hadn't been online since then.

“Maybe your dad made his status invisible," Bethany said.

Jonathan's backend features were far more advanced compared to those of other employees.

A simple invisibility feature was certainly within the realm of possibility.

"I checked. He's not invisible. He's simply not online," Rowan protested.

“Perhaps he's in a meeting that doesn't require logging into the backend."

There were meetings like that. Listening to subordinates’ reports, reviewing quarterly summaries, attending project receptions, negotiating legal contracts, and more.

However, Brody usually handles those tasks. It was unlikely Jonathan would manage them personally. And he didn't even return her calls.

“Try calling him again. I think Dad might be cheating," said Rowan.
