Chapter: 911
Bethany sighed and gently tapped her son's head. “Don't say such words! Your father would never do that. Where did you hear such things? Don't say it again, okay?"
Rowan stuck out his tongue and took his sister upstairs.
They could continue their play without any concerns, leaving Bethany with a troubling question.
Jonathan's behavior was highly unusual.
After a few minutes of pondering, Bethany picked up her phone.
It wasn't that she suspected Jonathan of being unfaithful. She was concerned that something might have happened to him, and he was hiding it from her.
The phone rang and rang, but no one answered.
Bethany's anxiety grew with each unanswered call. She dialed again.
Her concern was mounting as the silence persisted.
Realizing she needed to act, she decided to contact Brody. After several rings, he finally picked up.
“Hello, Bethany."
“Brody, are you at the office right now?"
“Yes, I am. Why do you ask?"
“I've been calling Jonathan, but he hasn't picked up. Is he still busy?" Bethany rose from the couch, ready to grab her car keys and head to the office.
Unaware that she planned to come to the office, Brody stammered, "Uh, yes, he is still busy. He probably didn't notice his phone."
"Did you inform him about the call I made this morning?"
"No, I got sidetracked and forgot. I apologize."
"That's alright. Please continue with your work."
Bethany ended the call and left.
Brody's tone felt off, and Jonathan's behavior was unusual. She needed to find out what was going on.
Bethany decided to drive to Bates Group. She chose to use the Maybach for the journey.
When she arrived at the garage, security let her in without question.
She walked through the lobby with determination, choosing to head to the meeting room floor that Jonathan often used instead of the CEO's floor.
The meeting rooms were all empty. Not a single meeting was in progress. Brody's claim of being busy seemed questionable.
