Chapter: 939
“Thanks for the compliment."
Suddenly, Jonathan pulled her firmly onto the bed.
Bethany froze, alarmed. "Are you out of your mind? You just had your stitches removed, and you're still bleeding!"
“I survived surgery just fine; a little bleeding is nothing." He shrugged.
Bethany was tempted to kick him off.
She thought Jonathan wanted to have sex, but he didn't attempt to undress her. Instead, he just held her close, breathing in her scent.
His proximity made her uncomfortably warm.
“What's wrong?" she asked.
Feeling something was amiss.
"Nothing. Just hold me for a while."
Bethany frowned and reached up to touch his forehead.
“Jonathan, you're burning up!"
No wonder his voice was so nasal. Clearly, he was trying to downplay his discomfort.
“Don't fuss over it, I'll feel better just holding you."
"But I'm not a fever reducer." Bethany worried he might be experiencing more severe issues. “Let me go. I'll get Samira to check on you."
Hearing the name "Samira," Jonathan frowned. “Don't bring her here."
"Are you still choosing doctors at this point?" Bethany wondered if his germophobia was acting up again as he was reluctant to have a female doctor attend to him. "Come on, let's just get your fever down. Samira performed your surgery; she knows your condition best. A fever can be serious. If she checks you and everything is fine, then I can relax."
"It's not that serious. Just get someone to bring me some fever medicine. I probably just have a cold."
Jonathan nestled into her neck, his eyelids heavy, looking drowsy.
Unable to convince him, Bethany gently pushed him away. “Let me go. I'll get your medicine."
"If I let you go, you'll just run off to find Samira."
He didn't want to see her.
“Jonathan Bates! Since when did you become so stubborn? You're the patient, and she's the doctor!"
Reluctantly, Jonathan loosened his grip and turned his body away from Bethany.
