Chapter: 944
Initially, he was gentle, understanding of her wariness of him. His movements were cautious, slow, almost tender. But as time passed, he gradually lost control. His grip tightened around her waist, and the pain made Bethany recoil, but he mercilessly dragged her back towards him.
Bethany, who was on the verge of falling asleep just now, found herself subjected to his relentless pace. Frustration and helplessness welled up within her, and in a desperate attempt to retaliate, she bit down on his collarbone-hard.
However, the sharp pain only seemed to fuel his desire further, and his actions became even more intense.
After a night of exhausting lovemaking, Bethany spent the entire next day languishing in bed. It wasn't until evening that she awoke, her slumber interrupted by a call from Aimee.
“Hello.."
Bethany's voice came out hoarse, a mere whisper of its normal self.
Aimee fell silent for nearly a whole minute before exploding, “Jonathan has gone too far. Isn't he supposed to be a weak patient that's trying to recuperate in Wesden?"
Bethany didn't respond.
“Bethany, you need to learn to put a stop to this. If this keeps up, you'll be completely drained by the time you get back."
Bethany winced, a sharp pain throbbing in her temple as she frowned.
“Did Nikolas stop when you asked him to?"
“Um... He doesn't Listen to me either."
Bethany took a deep breath and looked around the empty ward, the sterile scent of antiseptic filling her nose. She scanned the room for any sign of Jonathan, but he was nowhere to be found. “Need something?" she asked, a hint of exhaustion in her voice.
“Yes. Nikolas keeps talking about marriage, and his parents have also asked me about it so many times. They're incredibly sincere. I almost feel like saying yes."
Bethany raised an eyebrow, sensing the conflict in Aimee's tone.
Aimee knew deep down that rushing into marriage was risky, but she couldn't deny Nikolas' genuine sincerity.
His eyes always conveyed such earnestness that refusing him felt impossible.
“Well, do you want to marry him?" Bethany asked.
"I feel so torn, Bethany. I don't have a clear answer, which is why I wanted to talk to you. Nikolas isn't perfect. He's not the ideal person I envisioned marrying, but he's special. I can tell he genuinely cares about me."
Nikolas had promised to stay in and not go out, and he'd kept his word.
Every evening, after his long day at Bates Group, he came home to her. They spent their nights watching movies and playing games.
Even when his friends called, urging him to join them for fun and dinners, Nikolas declined without hesitation and told them he needed to keep his girlfriend company.
Those actions, no matter how seemingly trivial, spoke volumes to Aimee.
"It's not about what he does, but what you feel. Do you see yourself spending the rest of your life with him? Decades together, day and night?" Bethany asked.
