Chapter: 99
“If it were a male employee, I'd already be there. Now that I'm married, it's inappropriate for me to visit alone."

“You're married! You always use that excuse. Are you saying you would abandon all your friends just because you're married?" Nikolas’ voice grew louder, his frustration palpable. “So, you wouldn't come to my help if your wife disapproved?"

Jonathan paused for a moment before replying, “I'll talk to Bethany. If she can, we'll visit the hospital together."

Staring at the phone that had ended, Nikolas regretted agreeing to make the call for Maddie.

It would be better for Jonathan not to come if Bethany went along.

In Bates Group's conference room, Bethany was intently absorbing Brody's instructions, scribbling notes rapidly to ensure she didn't miss a detail.

At times, the room was silent except for the rustling sound of Bethany's pen furiously scribbling across her notebook.

After the meeting, Bethany sorted her notes.

Brody approached and commented, "I believe you're going to carve out a successful career."

Bethany's work ethic was a rarity.

She smiled and replied, “That's because you're an excellent instructor! Your case analysis is so precise and thorough. I've gained a lot learning from you."

She was at Ensson Corporation, and it truly felt like she was gaining a wealth of knowledge.

"I notice you're always taking notes, but understanding the material is what really counts. If you have any questions, feel free to ask."

"Okay!"

Bethany packed up her belongings, ready to head out. Just then, her phone rang-it was her mother.

Preferring privacy for this conversation, Bethany quickly moved to a quiet corner to answer.

“Hello, Mom."

“When are you going to introduce me to your husband? Is it really that difficult? Does he work all day, every day?"

Bethany didn't know how to answer Marie's questions.

"Not only is he busy, I am too."

“Alright, then take your time. I'm leaving the hospital today."

"Don't!" Bethany yelled, knowing her mother meant what she said. "I promise you, it'll be within three days, okay? I'll definitely bring him to meet you. We've discussed it before, but he's quite nervous about meeting you."

“He just took my daughter away and didn't even tell me about your marriage. How can he be nervous? That's absurd!"

“See? You're already sounding harsh. Isn't it better that he's occupied with his job? Would you prefer him to be jobless, leaving us to start from scratch?"
